Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
Proudly serving the Counties of Wood, Marathon, Lincoln, Langlade, Taylor, Rusk, Price, and Sawyer.
What is Weatherization?
Weatherization is an additional benefit available to a small number of households, who receive Energy Assistance. The program is designed to reduce energy usage and lower utility costs.
Weatherization is a process where a home is evaluated for energy efficiency. Based on the findings we may improve or replace water heaters heating units Refrigerators Freezers * Insulation and many other energy-saving items.
Is there a cost for Weatherization Services?
There is NO COST to the client (including renters) for weatherization services.
Who is eligible for Weatherization Services?
Anyone who is approved for Energy Assistance is financially eligible for the Weatherization Program and will be put on a weatherization priority contact list.
Who receives Weatherization Services?
Homeowners AND renters are eligible for the program. We are only able to weatherize a few hundred homes each year. There are thousands of people on the priority list. Homes with high energy usage will be targeted first.

Emergency Heating Repair or Replacement Program
For homeowners with heating systems that are not working or are unsafe. Heating system assistance includes repair or in some situations, replacement of a heating unit at no cost to you. Call your local WHEAP agency immediately if you are experiencing a no heat situation.
